Exits & Behavioral Finance

A lot has been written on the subject of business valuation and exit strategy. Here at the E.factor David Coffman and Marion Freijsen & Adrie Reinders amongst others have made excellent contributions in this respect.

In my experience valuation is indeed very important when selling your business. Without a substantiated valuation and intelligent exit model, you are either outsmarted by the counterparty or left holding the baby.

The second essential part of any company exit is your negotiation strategy and tactics. Optimal negotiating in my view requires more knowledge of psychology than of finance/economics.

Behavioral Finance

Behavioral Finance is a branch of economic and financial analysis using social, cognitive and emotional factors to understand the economic decisions of consumers, borrowers and investors, and their effects on market prices, returns and the allocation of resources.
