Inspiration

A few weeks ago we had a meeting with our designer, Michael . We had a very clear goal for our meeting - to talk about new work on E.Factor - but our meeting ranged from talking about Dutch politics, to history, to new designs and applications and many many more topics and.... oh yea, let's talk about the design of E.Factor for a few minutes... Every time we meet, Michael also produces a few pictures/images, photoshopped for us to give an impression of what it may look like on the site. And every time, I just watch Adrie and Roeland's faces instead of the paper that Michael is presenting because it is so much fun to see their eyes light up and faces go "wow".

Just last weekend, I went for a run up in the Californian hills. The weather was gorgeous, cool but sunny and blue skies. The earth reaked of new beginnings, the trees gave off a faint smell of wet bark and new leaves, and the birds were twittering in delight at this wonderful day. The air around me was otherwise quiet. I did not wear my eyepod but submerged myself in the surroundings, feeling as if I became part of that wonderful, peaceful piece of nature just for an hour or so.

That which these two events have in common is called "Inspiration". Both of them lift my heart, and make my soul surge. And therefore I know they are part and parcel of what I need to survive, both as an entrepreneur as well as a human being. Next to oxygen, bread and water and all the things that you need to live - for me inspiration, in whatever form it may come, is essential. I keep my eyes open and my ears tuned for those things that make me feel that wonderful lifting, and peace that comes from being inspired. Find yours, understand what it is that makes you feel inspired and actively place them in your life - it'll help you be stronger and in turn, hopefully inspire others.
