It may be easy to start a blog. But to make it a valuable, sought after resource is a more difficult challenge. This is especially true when a blog attempts to be a little different – moving from individual to collective participation within a specific subject matter.

The core objective of Ideas for Leaders is to help leaders of  every type and size of organization in this Internet era improve or optimize their organizations and hopefully build a culture of continuous improvement; by delivering to them relevant, quality ‘idea’ content that they can implement or think about, and all in one place.

If you’ve ever tried to search for information on organization development you share the frustration that I always encountered – a lot of good material, by a lot of great people however in a lot of different places, and with no coherent organization improvement context.

To getting this initiative going I am fortunate to have:

  • The research that my late partner Max Garfinkle (PhD Columbia) and I did in the nineties on an organization development framework (reference “Understanding the Organization Framework”). This provides context for the ideas and the ability to develop a meaningful reference library.
  • A starting line-up of great content/idea creators: Jim Clemmer, Bryan Eisenberg, Seth Godin, Mark Hurst, Mitch Joel, Avinash Kaushik, David Maister, Alan Webber and Henry Mintzberg (check out their Bio’s under About Us – Contributors)

In addition to being the moderator, I will be contributing posts based on both my own experiences and some of the work of my late partner Max.

However for the blog to succeed a constant stream of new posts will be required and of course – building up a following of interested individuals.

In addition to hopefully having you subscribe, each of you can assist in making this initiative successful by letting me know of potential contributors,  and very importantly spreading the word through your LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and any other networks and means available to you.

The “idea” posts begin shortly. I look forward to your participation and comments on this initiative.
