I have been spending time regularly with my grandchildren, Jade and James recently, 7 years and 7 month respectively. It is a great experience to see how these small persons see the world - large blue eyes looking at you with full candour and openness, happy, curious, no fear - one minute exploring their own little world, then looking to learn more about the big world around them. All of a sudden I saw a comparison with a starting entrepreneur - I am lucky enough to be an advisor with a number of start-ups and have seen with my own two eyes how these guys often react in exactly the same way, unencumbered with experiences and set-back, open and passionate... you'd almost wish they'd never grow up.
Reality is though that they will experience their own set-backs and lose part of that innocence that they have in common with little children.
For an experienced entrepreneur it is a blessing to be able to help and guide a young starter and see that openness of approach and happiness which you probably have lost some time ago yourself. However, it is important too that young starters have such an experienced coach to help them prevent too much heart ache and use him or her as a sounding board to overcome hurdles.
In this time, many young people leaving school will necessarily decide to start their own company as the market won't offer them many opportunities. Let's ensure, as seasoned entrepreneurs, that they get the chances they deserve and find the experts and coaches they will need.
If you are willing to be a coach with E.Factor - please drop me a message here on the site, find me in Chat, or mail me on adrie@efactor.com
