This Friday I had a good example of ‘how not to mix business with a normal job’.
In the morning I had a meeting with a guy from who I’ve heard through Textilia, the Dutch fashion magazine. He recently started a fashion label so I wanted to talk to him to learn how he had done this. The meeting was at a terrace (lovely weather) around the corner of my house. He told me all kinds of things, had tips, tricks and gave me good advice.
These kinds of meeting I really like. I like to talk to people who are open and willing to share knowledge. I was really happy, until I noticed it was already 11:30. Normally, that wouldn’t be a problem, but it was Friday, not my regular day off (Wednesday). I had to rush to work, where I came in the office, changing my flip-flops to normal attire.
When I came into the office, half the day was already gone. I had to write half a day off in the HR-system. The rest of the day (of which not much was left) I spent working for the bank, but with the meeting in the back of my head. I would love to work on the notes I made, visit the websites he gave me and work more for my business. But I can’t. I shouldn’t. I have to be committed to the bank job when I’m in their office.
This week I hope to set up some meetings on my regular day off and work the things out I’ve written down on Friday. Further, this week I really have to get going on the financing of my company.
During the meeting and after a lot of thinking in the weekend, I might work out one of my business models and ditch Plan A. I will have to start focusing on Plan B (which was originally Plan A).
I sincerely hope that I can get financing and support for my business model any time soon, because this will also enable me to finally focus on turnover. And profit….in the near future.
If anyone has any comments or suggestions, please let me know! Ofcourse I’m also secretly available on other days in the week…
