Stylin’ All The Way To Success -- EFactor Brings “Brand Image 101” to LA
You know the saying -- first impressions are everything. And when you’re working in a world as competitive as ours has become, you should take on every project -- whether an interview or important presentation -- with your best fashion forward. With “Brand Image 101: Picking, Portraying and Popularizing Your Look,” EFactor had Los Angeles covered head to toe with excellent advice from well-appointed experts Jen Bender and Jill Kirsh.
Jen Bender is the salon owner of M. Bird Studio and boasts more than 11 years of experience. The Vidal Sassoon-trained stylist has two years of extended salon training and unrivaled skill at cutting and styling for everyday and special events alike.
Using a model, Bender facilitated some amazing transformations right before attendees’ eyes. She displayed the perfect blow-dry -- pin hair so it parts in a “T”-shape, dry from root to end, then cool ends to hold curl. Curling irons, said Bender, are the easiest way to glam up an office look to transition to a night out. Make it as uncomplicated as possible, she advised -- simply curl hair in big sections, spray lightly, and separate curls to avoid looking too clumpy. Bender also shared an easy up-do how-to that requires nothing more than a ponytail holder and a few bobby pins -- just pull hair into a low side ponytail, pin the tail up in sections and tousle with fingers for that messy-yet-elegant look.
For makeup pointers, Bender dished on essentials that every girl must keep in her bag: blush, mascara, eyeliner and vaseline. With those simple staples, a pretty, polished, dewey look is fast and easy. Bender advised to avoid powder foundation as it can settle in lines and wrinkles and make you look older. A travel-sized tin of vaseline is a must-have according to Bender, it can be used for lips, as a highlighter for cheeks and beyond.
Jill Kirsh is the founder and namesake of Jill Kirsh Color, an innovative and one-of-a-kind Color Makeover System for wardrobe and makeup that’s based entirely around your present haircolor. Nicknamed “Hollywood’s Guru of Hue,” Kirsh was titled Los Angeles Magazine’s Best Color Consultant in their Best of LA issue, and has been featured in InStyle Magazine, The Los Angeles Times and more. She also consults for red-carpet celebrities, news anchors and famous faces across all industries.
Kirsh, working with event attendees with varying hair color, assembled her color swatches against them to show a fascinating truth -- with each person, the color pallet changed -- an attendee with blond hair, for example, made certain colors work much better than an attendee with red hair, and vice-versa. Kirsh has worked with many celebrities, training them what to wear on camera, so she isn’t shy to offer her advice -- or compliments -- to women she passes on the streets. She admitted she often finds herself either acclaiming the color choices of passersby, or offering constructive criticism and color suggestions to shoppers at the mall.
We can’t thank these two savvy ladies enough for sharing their indispensable tips on how to dress to impress and style ourselves to success, and we know our attendees can’t wait to try out what they learned at “Brand Image 101.” For more information on events like this one, join EFactor today and check out the events calendar in your area.
