Biography:

Mike Nelson is Founder and Co-CEO of Redwind Innovations LLC, a consulting and advisory firm, providing products and services for technology transfer, venture development and economic growth to universities, hospitals, communities and private institutions. He merged his practice, Russell Nelson Group LLC into Redwind in 2011.

Mike Nelson is a current a consultant to and former President at RadarFind Corporation, a high growth technology company serving the health care market. He oversaw all aspects of this company including direct and channel sales, marketing, hardware/firmware/software engineering, implementation & training and supply chain.

He is former President of Injured Workers Pharmacy, L.L.C. (“IWP”), a high growth national pharmacy serving the needs of patients in the Workers’ Compensation system. Prior to joining IWP, Mr. Nelson managed several other growth businesses in health insurance operations serving the Managed Medicaid market.

He has been a principal driver in several growth capital raises totaling more than $400 million.

From 2000-2004, Mr. Nelson was Managing Director for Redleaf Group, Inc., where he was responsible for sourcing and managing investment opportunities in the Mid-Atlantic region. He is a former board member of RedSiren, Moai Technologies and 61C Networks. He also served as an advisor to Red Creek Communications (sold to SonicWall) and Lumicyte.

Mr. Nelson spent the majority of his career (1980-2000) in progressively more responsible positions at PNC Bank Corporation in culminating in his position as Executive Vice President and Manager of PNC’s VentureBank. He was the principal executive and founder of this merchant banking unit of PNC which targeted high technology and growth companies at all stages of development.
