New Leaf Legal, LLC
Co-Founder and Attorney Live your Entrepreneurial Dreams with New Leaf. At New Leaf, we empower our family of emerging business and entertainment clients with Business Affairs and Legal know-how. We focus on...
Shannon is a classically-trained flutist who "crossed to the dark side" to become an entertainment attorney. She specializes in IP licensing, mainly in the music and video game industries. Her goal as an attorney is to act as a conduit between creatives and the "business" side of their industries, helping musicians, game developers and other creatives make good business decisions and practice their craft. She is currently licensed to practice law in Massachusetts.
Her practical experience started early in college, where she was VP of Business Administration at 'Cane Records, University of Miami's completely student-run label (www.canerecords.com). As a legal professional, she has worked at Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, a nonprofit organization which matches artists with competent and experienced entertainment attorneys to help them with their legal needs on a pro bono basis.
After her time in the nonprofit world, Shannon joined Exemplar Law Partners as an attorney, where she worked with musicians, gamers, filmmakers and other creatives and entrepreneurs on corporate and contractual matters, trademark matters, and copyright licensing, among other things. Basically she did anything she could to help entertainers or entrepreneurs (in or out of entertainment) develop their careers and business in the most effective, efficient and rewarding way possible.
Two and a half years later, Shannon struck out on her own with the help of two amazing business partners, Steven Shapiro and Jessica Manganello, to form New Leaf Legal. New Leaf serves solely emerging businesses and creatives, addressing a variety of legal needs from corporate law to entertainment and licensing. When you are an entrepreneur, it's only natural that you should serve other entrepreneurs!
