Biography:
Ron is a serial entrepreneur, author of a number of best selling business books and worked with a wide variety of companies and people across the globe in the area of business development.
He is originally from Holland, where he was one of the founding partners in a successful employment development consultancy firm. In 1994 he moved to Ireland to follow his heart and started and build a consultancy firm in training, entrepreneurship and local and economic development, which was taken over in 2000 by the leading business publishing house in Ireland. He became co- owner of Oak Tree Press and was made responsible for the business development of the company in the USA and the UK.
In 2004 he was approached to manage Invent, the commercialisation gateway of Dublin City University. His main role there was the business development of Invent, focussing on linking Irish businesses with the research and knowledge developed in DCU. There he also managed a portfolio of over 40 innovative technology companies in varying stages of development.
He left Invent in 2007 following his passion for books, learning and entrepreneurship to co-found Bookbuzz™, a company that improves your company’s competitive edge by designing highly effective learning and consultancy programmes that harness the collective wisdom of the organisation, using inspiring business books to stimulate ideas, design innovative strategies, boost fresh thinking and make better business decisions.
At the same time Ulster Bank asked him to develop www.smallbusinesscan.com. An unique, free and open platform where owner managers can create and share the business knowledge, the insights, the experience and the contact networks needed to generate new growth for their own business and create a new beginning for the economy.
He is an expert for the EBRD and the OECD, represents ASU Skysong in Europe, is board advisor to a number of exciting start-ups and a fellow of ICM.
As a result of the activities above, he is doing cool stuff around story telling, narrative, dialogue learning, social learning and collective wisdom.
