Groups provide you with the functionality of managing your own interest-group or mini-network. To add a group, you go to www.efactor.com/p/groups and click on "Create Group".
This will take you to your Dashboard, where you will see a button to "+Add" a group. Click on this and fill in the form.
Please note:
* The difference between an "Open" and a "Closed" group is the fact that with an Open Group, anyone can join whereas the second one (Closed) is by invite only, or people can request permission to join from you.
* Do add a Short Name for the Group which will allow you to tweet and post more easily then having to use the full URL once you have set up your Group.A Group gives you the ability to share info, post pictures, events, jobs and blogs as well as host Forum discussions. You can choose which of these items you do or do not want for your Group during the set-up.
Managing your Group can be done by you, from your Dashboard under My Groups, or you can give Admin rights to others.
- Your Profile
Your profile is the most crucial part of the site. You should see it as your storefront - this is where everyone will learn about you, your background and most importantly about your business. You can add documents, videos and even RSS feeds you want to be updated on regularly. You can build your own Library which others can see and which will allow us to put you forward as an Expert (soon out!) in your field when people search by keyword.
From your Profile you also can add your company (or companies) to our Business Directory. See the tab Professional, and simply click on the Add button there. That will guide you through the process. Add your marketing collateral for easy retrieval by anyone interested in your products or services. It's all possible and as we build our functionality, it will be come more and more important to have full details visible so that we can help you find new clients, suppliers or distributors as well as new talent.
- E.Factor Online Communication
So how do you communicate with other members? There is a wealth of possibilities to find new people and contact them. First of all, under your Dashboard, you will have seen that you can receive and send Messages. Simple messages like an email, which you can forward to others but also two very specific types of messages that will help you build out your network and find answers to questions.
The first of these is the re:QUEST!. This message type is created in the same way as a normal message to any member. You open up your Inbox, click Compose New and fill in your subject. But you click "My Network" instead of clicking "Member" in the TO area. And below the message body editor, you select "Make this message a re:QUEST!". What you can now do, is pose a question, or send a comment to your entire network in one go. That may not be that many people to begin with, but a re:QUEST! Is designed so that your network, can then forward to their network and so on - thus spreading the word further and further. Ultimately, if someone has the answer to your question - they can reply to you and give you the answer. Use the power of the group!
The other special message is our Recommendation. How often in real life don't you want to introduce one person to another? Well, this does just that. Click on the Recommendation tab and enter the two people in your network that you would like to connect to each other. Send them a message as to why you are connecting and and that's it. They can now connect to one another and benefit from the new relationship you created.
- Chat
Chat has moved to a new location!! You will now find it on the bottom bar on the far right hand side. Open it up to find the full Chat window, speak to the Group in the Public Chat or set up your own room to chat to your contacts in private. To set up your own Chat room, click on Create a Private Room on the top right hand side of the Chat window and give it a name. Once created you can invite others to join you there and they will see a link that they can use to enter.
- Your Dashboard
To manage your profile you have a number of different settings and possibilities. To help you through the various options - here's a short recap:
All your profile settings are managed through your Dashboard, which is the first page you get to whenever you log in. On the left you will see the menu - at the top - your Inbox and other message options. Second part (Manage Your) is all about your settings.
From the top down - you find:
Member Details:
This area relates to your membership class, log-in details, the notifications you receive and how you receive them, your purchases (all invoices are printable).Log-In:
Change your email address and password here.Notifications:
Please note that you can choose to receive certain alerts, such as members inviting you to their network, by email. You can change these under the Notifications tab.Profile:
On E.Factor you have the ability to create an extensive profile that includes your personal details, professional background and interests, your companies, your bio and a library of any interesting information you would like to share with viewers. All of this info is searchable by other members so the more complete your profile the easier you are to be found!MyNetwork:
Search Members/My Network: Here you will find all the members that you are connected to already and can manage that connection. You can also add new members through the Search function - find someone that fits your needs, and invite them to your network. You will now be able to message them as well either as an individual or your whole network in one go.
Invite Friends: invite people that you think would enjoy being connected to you on E.Factor. You can use the same screen for both people that are already on E.Factor and those that are not. The system will tell you with a simple icon if they are already an E.Factor member and send out either an external invitation or an internal one accordingly. Simple! Invite your entire address book or just one at a time - it's up to you.
MyPostings:
Under myPostings, you canmanage all sorts of postings you may have entered on the site - be it a blog, a classified, a Finance Request or Video. In this one area you can add New postings, as well as manage existing ones by clicking on them and opening them up.My Widget/Syndication:
We have created a simple widget that allows you to post an icon with a link on your own website, sharing your nicely filled out E.Factor profile. A similar icon exists for anyone writing a blog on E.Factor - and links back to your series of blogs. So you don't have to copy paste, once you have embedded the code we provide here, in your own website - your viewers will be able to click and read. - Ask a Coach
Everyone needs advice from time to time. Even if you know what you want to do, it's good to measure against someone who's been there before. That's why you have free access to over 50 coaches on E.Factor (and the number is growing!).
Simply go to http://www.efactor.com/p/askcoaches, or look under Networking and click on Ask Coaches and fill in the form that is presented there. You can ofcourse see all the coaches we have connected and check out their profiles first if you want.
- Health Insurance
We have created an excellent and affordable health insurance package for our E.Factor members (US for now, others to follow). It is backed by one of the top three providers in the world, and you can complete everything online. Above all, it's within reach of every entrepreneur and provides decent coverage for you, your family and your employees as you wish.
To view interviews, information and more - please see http://www.efactor.com/p/efactorhealth.
- Blogs
You may already have found the various blogs on the site providing you with useful information, but did you realize you can even write your own blog here, or showcase another blog by importing it to your Profile?
To write your own - go to your Dashboard, and click on MyPostings in the menu on the left. You'll see a link called "blogs" there, select and then simply "Add New" at the top of the screen on the right - this is also where you can edit blogs you have already posted.
Once you have written a blog, we quickly scan it to make sure there's no typos. Then you'll get a message as soon as it is visible on the site.
You can now also see under MyWidgets/Syndication (again in Dashboard on the left) that you can copy code related to your new E.Factor blog and paste it to your own website thus showing any visitors there what you have written about on E.Factor!
If you want to add an outside RSS feed to your profile - go to Dashboard and click on Profile. Then you select the tab "Library" and the "Add" button next to RSS feeds. Now you can import info you or someone you like to follow has created elsewhere and create your own library right here.
