Event Report Chicago: Building a Personal Brand
Source: E.Factor - 2009-02-27Last night saw the launch of E.Factor events in Chicago. On a night you would not expect anyone to leave home, with rain pouring down and flooding in various parts of the city, 70 people came to join what turned out to be a wonderful evening.
The event kicked off with Marion Freijsen, E.Factor, announcing a great new service for E.Factor members. If you are concerned about what people find and read when they google you on E.Factor - now there is a tool available that will make SURE you control what is presented right at the top of the Google page - your E.Factor profile! More details here and also in your Dashboard under Member Details (look for QAlias). This brand new functionality was the introduction to a series of presentations about Personal Branding and How to build your brand on the Internet.
Charles Fellingham, CEO and Founder of QAlias had flown in from Atlanta to present how you can now control what is read about you on the internet. In a series of concise stories and anecdotes, he clearly demonstrated the value of being able to have your personal brand right at the top of Google. Charles has experienced himself what the downside may be if you do not know what people and clients are reading about you - which led him to found QAlias. You will find his presentation here later today.
Following Charles, E.Factor veteran speaker Howard Greenstein, Owner of Harbrooke Group, took the stage (as it were) and gave a brilliant overview of all the things you can, and even need to do, to create your brand. Not just your company, but YOU are a brand and you should consider what you can do to be seen everywhere on the internet in the best possible way. Like Charles, Howard used many examples of people's achievements and if you were in the audience, I am sure you walked out feeling that you have a lot of work to do, but that it is definitely worth doing for the value it brings.
The presentations were followed by a Q&A session with both speakers and local business people and panel members Ted Greene and Biagica Bottigliero - moderated by Cd Vann. All bios can be found on the site and ofcourse all of these profiles can be found on E.Factor!
All in all - the event had a great buzz about it - the buzz of entrepreneurs meeting other entrepreneurs. We are beginning to see this now at every event we host - and it's the best sense in the world to know that you are watching new business opportunities unfold!
To follow up - you will find all speakers willing to answer your further questions in the Forum "Events" - please post them and you will receive a reply within 24 hours. Pictures, Presentations and video will be available very shortly. Stephanie Frasco and Howard Greenstein started the discussion.
