London Event Report & Pictures!
Source: www.efactor.com - 2009-03-02On 23rd February, a large group of entrepreneurs converged on Davenport Lyons in Piccaddilly in London to hear James Pimentel-Pinto and Andy Maclaren talk about commercial opportunities in mobile phone entertainment. James and Andy are absolute experts in their field having been involved in the internet and digital business since inception in 1994. In 2006 they jointly set up Agency Mobile Limited with a view to helping brands communicate to new audiences via the new, exciting and varied world of mobile applications. We were in fact rather privileged to have the pair with us as they had had to hotfoot it back from the global mobile conference in Barcelona just to be with us!
The crowd was mixed in terms of knowledge on mobile and the ever emerging opportunities available for advertisers, but James brought the night to life with some fascinating case studies on how effective mobile applications can be in connecting consumers with brands in an engaging, personal and useful way. Particularly clever was their collaboration with Sony Ericsson (one of whose marketing team was in fact in the audience!) and the WTA tennis tour. The example opened eyes to the enormous power and potential of mobile applictaions at large sporting events where the appetite for stats and listings is huge. To have impact, applications must both entertain and be practical otherwise consumers will switch off.
There was a strong debate after the talk, much of it focussing on the questionable growth of mobile over the next five years. We concluded that as long as creativity is consistently aligned to user demands, whether in London, Dubai or Mumbai, the future is definitely bright.
As ever, the networking was a real highlight of this event with people staying on well until past 9pm to chat and meet new people. And why not; after all E.Factor was living and breathing its global ethos with representation from the UK, Holland, USA, Germany, India and Israel.
Onto the next event - as our events get increasingly popular - make sure you sign up early!
