EFactor Presents

When it comes to digital marketing, people love to toss around buzzwords about how social media is the next big thing for businesses big and small. But to make heads or tails of this relatively new industry is no simple feat.
Thats why EFactor and I presented our Social Media Marketing seminar earlier this week at WixLounge, and brought in a panel of experts to get down to the brass tacks of how to turn your social media into social media marketing.
Our panel included Karma Martell, the founder of KarmaCon Inc., a media company that hones in on “good karma,” sustainable, ethical and tech-savvy marketing. Karma shared with our attendees that now, over 50% of Americans have Facebook accounts, and that more web searches are completed within social media sites than search engines. As a tip, she advised that business URLs should be as short and sweet as possible on social media pages, to ease click tracking and monitor your site’s hits.
Also speaking was Lena West, the founder of the Influence Expansion Academy, which is the only social media mastermind program created just for women. The developer of “The 9-Step Social Media Success System,” Lena let attendees in on an important lesson: know the people you need to know, to give yourself the power of engaging the influencer. It’s all about picking the right tool, said Lena, especially since women utilize and respond to social media marketing much differently than men.
Following Lena on the docket of speakers was Oz Sultan, the founder of Sultan Interactive, LLC, a product development and online marketing agency. Oz noted how fascinating it is that with social media, we’ve broken down more walls in the past five years than we had in last 100 years. Like Lena, Oz stressed the importance of knowing your influencers, and added a lesson about the necessity of branding all of your pages so they have the same look and feel.
The event was held in NYC’s innovative WixLounge, a completely free co-working and event space located in the heart of Union Square. Active since 2010, the Wix Lounge is run by Wix.com, a free website publishing platform providing user friendly tools for building beautiful, easy-to-make desktop, mobile, and Facebook sites. The Wix Lounge provides free support to Wix.com users, giving them help and advice for making the ideal website.
Along with some sage social media advice, all attendees also walked out with free iPhone cases courtesy of Speck, and delicious snacks from Lush Gourmet Food.
