About the Speakers:
Paren Knadjian is a principal at Lionfish Advisors. As a three time CEO/COO, Paren has over twenty years of P&L executive management experience with a tangible track record of increasing revenues and creating profitability in entrepreneurial, high-growth, and large corporate environments. Paren has enjoyed significant entrepreneurial and M&A achievements by co-founding two companies which were successfully sold to trade buyers one of which was a $100m + transaction. Paren was also a driving force for a corporate team that acquired three businesses and recently helped sell a company to McDonalds Corporation. Co-founder of two software technology firms, Paren is well versed in all aspects of company formation, operations, acquisitions and divestiture.
Louis Dienes is a member of the TroyGould's Corporate Department. He provides practical advice to boards, senior management, investment banks and investors in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, equity and debt financings, and business operations including nearly two decades of experience in outsourcing, technology licensing, services agreements, equipment leasing, and sales and distribution agreements. Louis is a relationship partner to U.S. and foreign businesses, ranging from start-ups to multinationals.
Stephen Block is a managing director at Trenchat Ventures. Mr Block has more than 40 years of broad, legal, management and executive experience at Fortune 500 corporations and a major New York law firm. Mr. Block has had extensive experience in domestic and international mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. He serves on the Boards of Directors of both private and public companies including the Board of Directors of Senomyx, Inc. (NASDAQ:SNMX) and ChromaDex Corporation (OTC:CDXC.OB), Chairman of the Board of Blue Pacific Flavors and Fragrances, Inc., and a director of Allylix, Inc., XSCapacity, Inc., Vigilistics, Inc. and Masher Media, Inc. (of which he is co-founder). Mr. Block is also a Managing Director of Venture Farm, LLC, which provides early stage venture capital to entrepreneurs and works closely with them to help them grow and get larger VC funding. Mr. Block holds a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from Yale University.
Dr. Kevin J. Scanlon’s career includes: academic medicine, the pharmaceutical industry, CEO in three start-up companies and an angel investor. He is currently the Chairman of Pasadena Angels (2012-2014). Kevin is also an executive member of the Los Angeles chapter of the Tech Coast Angels. He is a faculty advisor for the UCLA FEMBA program. Dr. Scanlon has worked with governments in Ireland, China and New Zealand to create an innovative culture at their universities. He was CEO/Co-Founder of the cancer diagnostic company, patents Melanoma Diagnostics that was sold to Myriad in December 2010. As a Vice President at Berlex-Schering (Germany), he was responsible for the cancer program in the US, Europe and Asia. Dr. Scanlon received his doctorate degree from the University of London in Molecular Biology, was a Leukemia Society Scholar, awarded the Paul Martini Medical Research Prize in Cancer, the President of the International Society of Cell and Cancer Gene Therapy, Co-Editor/Co-Founder of the Nature journal “Cancer Gene Therapy”, a participant at 400th Anniversary of Uppsala University (Sweden), co-authored over 135 original scientific articles, edited nine medical books and has seven issued.
